If it's a straight upgrade any credit you have will automatically carry forward.

sorry didn't explain myself properly I want to upgrade but still owe £120.00 on my existing phone can that be added to another contract if I choose to upgrade

The device has to be paid off first. You could sell the phone and use money to pay it off though strictly speaking it still belongs to the HP company. They wouldn't know though in honesty.
