As others have mentioned, make sure 4G or LTE is turned off.
Constantly getting customers where i work moan about O2 coverage and its because 4G has just been rolled out here. Just turn it off and watch your signal return!

Thanks for your compliments folks
To add to the "why pay for the gadget you can't afford" argument, I'd like to say that these days buying a £200-300 priced phone is far from making compromises on specs and performance.
People just feel comfy with certain brands - Apple, Samsung, Sony, HTC etc... But it pays to shop around, and boy, you could get pleasantly surprised by what's out there...
Asus, Acer, OnePlus One, Huawei, Motorola, Xaomi... the list goes on.
Even if you are dead attached to a particular brand, why not get a last year flagship instead of the latest one? You are likely to make a good saving and not going to get dissapointed performance wise.

Thnx, no more 12 month cpntracts for me as you, you pay for 12 months but get 6 useable ones in terms of reception.
I'm on Refresh, which is technically a 24 months one, but then again... if I pay my handset off today, I can walk away today if that's what I felt like. Would never sign up for any "normal" 24 months contract though.

That's exactly what I did last week. I took out a refresh plan to get an LG G4, but then paid off the device plan the following day, so that I could request an unlock code. I also cancelled the airtime plan, because at the £10 price point, there isn't a pay monthly tariff that offers an equivalent inclusive allowance to their current PAYG offerings. I would have considered a 30 day rolling contract, just to get the other benefits such as TuGo, but retentions weren't interested in offering similar terms to what I'm already getting.

That seems a bit extreme @Anonymous was the phone not for sale cheaper and sim free elsewhere?

I agree @cyrillicguy I also go for the previous flagship as it is more affordable, for example when the iPhone 4 was released I chose to upgrade to the 3GS instead as it was more affordable, had pretty much the same features & OS as the 4, just was released the year previously & a different shape
Good on you @Anonymous I know you went for the iPhone 5C when the 6 first came out. There's an old saying about cutting the cloth to suit your means....still relevant!

And why should I go for the Note 4 or even 5...when I still don't use the Note 3 to its full capacity I love it however and it suits my needs. It still draws envious looks from my circle of friends when we are out.....

Unfortunately, you can't buy it directly from LG, as their website only offers links to retailers such as CPW, as well as the main networks, and O2 were the cheapest of those options at £479.99. I have seen it advertised on some websites for a lot less, but I'd rather stick with retailers that I have some experience of, just in case there's a problem at some point.
