Contacted O2 and received PAC code and was told that if I left before the end of my billing date I would not receive any more bills.
I did that bur still got a bill for 1 month charges.
Today I received an email demanding payment of £15 within four days or I would be charged a late payment fee.
As directed I replied to the email mycare address only to get a reply saying it had been discontinued.
I was told to contact the web chat.
The web chat told me that I did not owe £15 but it has now been reduced to £1.

I asked them why O2 are now taking time and effort demanding just one pound and was told that there was nothing they could do about this and to contact the billing department.
I was also told that if i did not pay the poundthis would affect my future credit rating!
Why are O2 spending time and effort chasing £1 ?
If this is how the system works I certainly wont be returning as a customer in future.

Your T&C's state you have to give 30 days notice so if you get pac and leave immediately you still get charged the 30 day period.
You're lucky it's been reduced to £1 so I'd pay it and be grateful.
All other networks work the same btw.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@unhappycamper As you're leaving anyway, just pay the £1 and don't fret over it. O2 are incredibly petty when it comes to things like this, and despicable when it comes to affecting credit ratings if paltry amounts don't get paid. Just to make sure it is only £1, call and speak to someone in customer service in the morning. I wouldn't rely on the accuracy of anything Live Chat might tell you. You should clarify the exact amount to avoid any credit rating surprises. Enjoy your new provider. wink https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus:

I agree with MI5 ~ wise advice ~ You should know how I was treated with TalkTalk mobile ~ very bad ~ they reneged on my contract with them. Eventually I managed to escape, without much monetary loss either. Get on quickly as it can dominate your life!
Best of luck TallTrees
