o2 have placed a default on my credit file in 2011, I have only just notice this.
My mortagage adviser mentioned that my credit rating was fine and when the mortage when through they declined due to a £32 outstanding bill, saying that is was too much risk! The house sale needs to go thorugh this week or I will lose out on the property.
The bill was due to changing contracts in 2011 from a consumer account to a business account. I was told the account was settled in full. I didn't receive any requests for the £32 or was I contacted on my phone number which they had, because they were my telephone provider!
I have been trying to contact o2 through the following avenues but am not having much luck.
Do you have any other advice?
ronan.dunne@o2.com
complaintreviewservice@o2.com
CreditFileReferrals@o2.com
All customer service representatives are staying that they cannot contact the Credit file Referrals team them selves, as the office does not have a phone number!!!!
This matter is ruining my situation and the people head in my house
O2 if you are listening, your customer service is shocking and we need this rectified IMMEDIATELY!
This could end up costing you way more than £32 unless you act!

You can add a notice of correction to your credit file and dispute the account via the credit reference agencies. I would then put a complaint into O2, sent by recorded deliver.
As for the mortgage, ask the lender to manually look at your credit file. Get the broker (if your using one) to explain to the lender what's happened and that you have raised a dispute. - One question, didnt you have a mortgage promise before searching / viewing a property? Seems a bit backwards, what if the bank didn't agree to the LTV or you failed the new affordability checks (financial stress test).

Thank you for this information, you are all so helpfull.
I have asked credit reference agencies to add the note and have dispute it.
For the mortage, I have a broker, who had intially gave me a DIP when I showed him my Equifax file.
He said that the Default was not issue, as it was for so little a long time ago and my rating was good.
The DIP was revoked once the underwriter had seen the default. It's all so backward. I have already paid for a £1000 house survery and will lose the house because of this. I have only realised why the default was there since researching and worked out it was due to exchanging contracts.

O2 will not do anything.
One of the executive relations team told me today that it is their duty to put defaults on account, but not to call the customer for payment. What a company!

I feared as much. So many people have had this happen to them and most companies contact you when you owe them money. Poor stance and a poor excuse of a statement.
