Virtual Video Conference Call

Hello.

Just a quick question.

On the 27th (week after next), I'll be taking part in a video conference call with a Dr concerning my autism triage appointments. I've never done a video call before, and I'm not on WhatsApp, X, Facebook or anything like these. I'll be the one logging into the virtual waiting room on my android tablet, and the call will take at least 1hr 30min.

I'm on a pay monthly tariff with unlimited calls, data and texts. Will I be charged extra for this video call (£1.50 a minute), or will unlimited data cover this?

I have been into a store, and was told it should be okay.  Has anyone else experienced a situation like this?

I did similar with my solicitor.

Data usage came out of my allowance.

As far as O2 are connected it's just using the internet

You will be OK

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Thanks.  I was just concerned about the data allowance, and how much data I would be using after being told that Unlimited Data doesn't actually mean Unlimited, but around 647MB a month.

The NHS are using Attend Anywhere, and where I live I don't have WiFi, and ai don't use Facebook, Skype or anything type of video call apps. It'll just be my data allowance and the connection speed and quality settings.

A 1 hour 30 minute Attend Anywhere video call will likely use between 345MB and 675MB of data, depending on the device and connection quality. If using a mobile device, it may be closer to 345MB, while a PC might use around 675MB. These figures are based on estimates comparable to Skype or FaceTime calls.

Per Minute Usage:

For a 20-minute call, you might use around 230MB on a mobile device and 450MB on a PC.

1.5 Hour Call:

Extrapolating from the 20-minute estimate, a 1.5-hour call could use 345MB on a mobile device and 675MB on a PC.

Data Usage Variations:

Data usage can vary based on connection speed and the quality settings of the video call. Higher quality settings will consume more data.

As I've got autism I've been anxious about this, as I need my data for projects I'm involved in (archeology, digital art, writing etc), plus for work where my phone is a backup handset if the store ones aren't available (usually when the WiFi is down).

Fair usage Unlimited is in GB's not MB's as you stated.

On the figures you gave your call would use around 1,000th of that!

Nothing whatsoever to worry about

Had to be 100% certain (it's how my mind works, if I don't I get worked up, stressed & anxious).

Spoke to someone in my closest store yesterday, and he confirmed what you've said. So nothing to worry about except signal strength on the day. Luckily the physical NHS letter arrived yesterday,  and it says if there's an issue in that regard the clinician will call my mobile or tablet.

My mind is now at ease.  Thank you.

@Anno78 I'm on the ASD spectrum myself, so I feel your pain, however I stick to using my Desktop PC the rare times I have online meetings.

I'm definitely going to be using my tablet for the conference call, as I have now found that my dads study has got the best signal reception in the whole house for ny tablet. Everywhere else it's my phone that's got the best signal.

Was getting a but concerned that I was going to have to use my phone, as my personal laptop isn't connected to the Internet, and Dad will be away with his.
