Hi @Mick50

To minimise data usage in Thailand, then stick with Wifi, or if your phone is unlocked, use a local sim.

Also, to avoid additional costs, turn Voicemail OFF..

However, you can have O2 Travel where you will pay £4.99 a day for data, minutes and tests.

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international/using-phone-abroad

You can get O2 travel by texting O2 TRAVEL to 23336

You also need to call customer services to ensure your phone isn't blocked forTravel abroad.

Important to note, if you don't get the O2 Travel bolt on you will be paying international rates

I have just returned from Thailand.

Be aware that O2 Travel at £4.99/day is unusable.

A tourist sim card from any 7/11 store (and there are literally dozens of stores in every town or city) on the True network will cost you 299 bahts (about £7) for 8 days and gives you 6GB of 4G data with calls and texts to other True customers. After the 8 days top up with 100 bahts for more data.

Don't be tempted to buy at the airport.

You will need your passport to buy a Thai sim card

There is a special deal for tourists at the True shops within the large shopping centres. I paid 250 bahts for 200GB for 1 month so that would be my choice again.

Make sure your phone is unlocked before you travel and use the wifi social media apps to contact home.

Enjoy Thailand, it's amazing smiling
