Why are upgrade options so poor through the o2 app? One particular deal is 25 with various others, but 40 thru o2!!! This was billed as the best value deal also!

@Ruskyg

Usually because O2 offers Refresh and O2 Open. However other companies  get a commission for selling phones from O2 network so the choice is up to you.

However, you will only get a Refresh deal if you buy directly from O2. If that isn't a deal breaker for you, then go for a deal which suits you and your circumstances.

Just make sure you dn't end up with a business contract.

Not really answering the question tbh. If you add commission on it should be more expensive, not cheaper. You dress up dreadful deals as good ones, and hope non savy consumers will sign up. For example this deal was billed a best value. Was 1gb data on 3 yr deal, at a cost of £16 per month. So so far from competitive. IMO a con! I don’t particularly need a ‘company line’ response. Maybe just take this as feedback for 02.

Honestly @Ruskyg O2 don't care less what feedback they get on pricing.

Obviously they benchmark and as people are happy to pay a premium to go direct, they will continue with their pricing structure.

There are discounts available from O2, but only if bought direct, so that suits many also.

You missed the point about commission though. O2 give that to resellers who then use it to discount their prices and drive more sales. Again, O2 don't care, as ultimately you are still paying O2 for the contract.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I don't feed anything back to O2. I am a customer like yourself. You are posting on a community forum. I was simply giving you a reason why O2 deals could be cheaper elsewhere as places like Mobiles Phone Direct pay commission to O2 to sell phones on their network.

No one here will give a company response as we are all customers

It's a shame that other retailers can offer the same deals much cheaper but it's always been that customers are normally tied into upgrading early and as as in all walks of life, the bigger the company the more expensive they are

I would always advise people to shop around but truth is, people can't be bothered and think they are getting a good deal by sticking with the same company

Totally false but this is an O2 business decision, maximise profit from every customer

Thanks for your time and responses. Foolishly thought someone from 02 might read my comment and it might make a difference. Never mind. They will fleece those that they can!
