Unlocking

I tried to put a virgin SIM card in my old Samsung Galaxy S6+ today but it asked for a code.
I’ve contacted o2 and sent 2 requests for unlock and they are saying it’s not an o2 phone. This was paid off 3 years ago and it was on o2 network, I have the imei 15 digit code for phone but don’t know what to do now.
Can anyone help me

If they can't help you will need to go down the P&G route in the link so as to re-register it on the O2 network. Please don't keep re-entering any codes until you get the correct one otherwise it will be hardlocked to the network.

Hi I have managed to unlock but now I’ve put a virgin sim card in and it does not seem to be allowing the data element of the sim to work.
Any ideas
