Unlocking whilst overseas

Anonymous
Not applicable

Unbeknown to me my phone is locked, thought that no longer happened! Anyway I requested an unlock code, which I received , but it doesn't work!

The email gives a link to chat for help, I guess it's not 24 hours as it's shut at the moment, so that doesn't work either.

the email says enter the unlock code NCK, which I presume is the 16 digit number, unless I am missing something?

The code you require for IMEI cxxcxxxxxxxx is as follows :

Xxxxxxxxxxxdxdxxxxx

Unlatching a Sony device :
Power on the device with a non O2 UK SIM card.
The device will show: SIM network unlock PIN.
Enter the unlock code NCK for the network lock and press Unlock.
The device will pop up a message : Network unlock successful.

Double check your imei matches up with the email, then try to find out why they sent you a code that doesn't work and hard locked your phone.

That is the normal process on unlocking if you have the correct NCK but @viridis and @MI5 will be online in a few hours so will verify it for you.

Incidentally how many times have you tried it? After many unsuccessful attempts the phone will be hardlocked permanently.

On the keypad dial *#*#7378423#*#* and choose Service Info >Sim Lock.

Against network what does it show?

[x] 1 is locked to network, [x] 0 is hard locked and [ ] 0 is unlocked.

Am I right in thinking that only a new phone will sort this issue out? If so and it's the wrong code you need to chase O2 through the complaints process.

The Miri is correct, I guess I had more than the allowed attempts before getting the correct code! As I input the punk code that came with the sim here in Thailand. Oh well wasted a few quid on a sim now!

Unfortunately, it sounds like you need to buy a new phone whilst you are out there.
jonsie will recommend the Samsung J7 for around £140.00 over there.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

For sure. I may even buy another for my UK sims now....cheap but does everything I want whilst waiting for the next Note reincarnation.
