Hello Hello. 🐶

I have an O2 pay monthly contract for an iPhone 13 Pro and would like to get a second number on the same phone to use for work. I have read online that I can do this with Dual SIM, but that I needed to go to an O2 store to sort it out. I did just that, but they told me in store they couldn't sort it and I'd have to do it online. Great. Has anyone managed to sort this with O2, and if so I'd be interested to know how, how much it costs and how long it takes to arrange. Thanks in advance!

@TheJobinator

You will need an additional contract with O2 or other network to get the second number.

Either number can then be switched to an esim.

The cheapest sim only deals can be found on USwitch.

Use USwitch
https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/o2/
Choose the deal you want
This will automatically redirect you to the O2 website
Just follow the prompts and choose the UPGRADE option
Complete the deal and nothing on your account changes except the tariff at the new cheaper cost
Payment date is the same and your next bill will be cat a cheaper rate and will be made up of the pro rata cost of your old tariff and your new tariff
The change should show in My O2 within 24 hours
Volt benefits will still apply as will possibly a 3 month extra such as Disney+

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Unless you only operate and travel in areas with a robust O2 signal, I would suggest that you consider getting your second SIM on another network. This will maximise your network coverage and is how many users utilise the dual SIM capability on modern handsets.

Thank you very much....Just when I thought I was about to confirm the order for the second eSIM, I somehow failed the credit check. Looks like a nightmare to try sort that out. Is it possible for me to get a family member to try order a second SIM which I can then use in my phone, or does it have to be in my name?

@TheJobinator The sim doesn't have to be in your name for you to use it, but whoever takes the contract out for that sim will be responsible for the bill and you will have no control over it. Get a second sim from another provider as advised above if you can pass the credit check with them.

Thanks, but I assume my phone is locked. Wouldn't it have to be unlocked to get an eSIM from a different provider?

@TheJobinator O2 haven't sold locked phones since 2018. Your phone will not be locked. You can use a sim from any provider.
