Hi All...in a couple of weeks I shall be going abroad for a few days. It will be the first time i have taken my new contract phone. (in the past as a PAYG customer it was simply a case of turning my phone on when landing and it found the appropriate network for me) With a contract phone do I have to let O2 know I am travelling abroad? Also is there anything else I should be aware of? (I wont be using the phone for internet or emails etc. It will be used purely for calling texting and sending pictures) Thanks for your help

Costs for Spain with O2 travel:
Outgoing calls - 50p connection charge, then out of your inclusive mins. 35p per min if you run out.
Incoming calls - 50p connection fee, no charge for first 59mins of the call - hang up if it gets to 59p to avoid charges
Texts - 8p
MMS - 25p
Data - £1.99 per day for 15mb data. Use more than this and the O2 travel bolt-on is removed leading to higher call/text costs.

Not to confuse things - but as far as I'm aware this is changing on 18/03/13 to 15Mb on consumer as well as doing away with outgoing calls coming out your inclusive minutes.
I will double check this though and post back here.
We've been notifying some customers for a few weeks via SMS.

I am really pleased I posted my query re travel abroad. When i see all these follow on posts from the experts, re data etc, it seems to have opened up another 'can of worms'. (Doesn't affect me at all, but has been fascinating to read)
