Transferring name on account or transferring contract

Anonymous
Not applicable
The account for my phone is in my mums name and has been for years however the email address and bank details etc are all my own. Having read a few posts it doesnt look like it’s possible to transfer the name on the account and I would need to take a new contract. My current contact has about a year or so left on it - so is there anyway I can transfer the remaining contract into a new account in my own name and be able to keep the same number? The reason I want to do it instead of wait is I am looking to buy an Apple Watch on a 2 year contract with o2 and connect it to the same account but I don’t want to have it in my mums name again for another 2 years? I’m really stuck on where to go with this - all I want is the account in my name and to take out this new Apple Watch contract? Thanks in advance

As the contract is in your Mums name it isn't possible to change the name on the account.

You would need to apply for your own contract and undergo the usual credit checks etc.

Your mum would be liable for the remaining charges on your current contract.

TBH, with the current pandemic and O2 staff very limited, this isn't the best time to think of changing anything.

Hope that helps
