Transfer old number to my new o2 SIM - Not going well.

Just wanted to ask, in your honest opinion or from experience.

How long did it take for your old number to be transferred from your previous provider to o2 ?

I just moved from giffgaff and have already requested my old number to be transferred over twice - to no avail.

Upon both previous occasions of speaking with o2 suppor they reassured me my number would be transferred over within 24 hours (After I gave them my PAC code etc.)

called them first on Saturday (11th Jan). 24 hours past and no joy - (Even after several reboots of the phone).

Called them a second time, The representative apologised and claimed it was because they do not work with number transfers on weekends ?? (Not sure why the first rep didn't tell me this!?). Anyway, 24 Hours past again and guess what ? Still not done.

So I called them again this morning and the rep apologised once again and claimed it was a 'System error' this time but could/ would not go into details of the problem. Then went on to reassure me that this will 100% definitely done within 24 hours... Don't know

Have any of you guys had such a hard time trying to get your old number transferred ?? Just me ?

I have no problems with the phone itself (iphone 5s) loving it so far, Just starting to lose my confidence in o2 a little bit already 😞

I guess all I can do is wait and see if it goes through ? Well here's to hoping! Thoughful

Judging by a report in another thread, the system may be "stuck", let's hope it can be "unstuck" shortly! slight_smile

As your phone (I presume your old one) is now showing no service, turn your new phone on and off every 15 minutes or so. Eventually it will transfer. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

Apologies I did not not specify, It is my new phone that is showing as no service. I am going to preiodically restart the phone and see if it transfers over.

My old SIM is not currently in a phone - That wouldn't stop it would it ? Smiley Frustrated

No, your fine. The process has started now so a couple of hours and all should be well.

I agree with MI5. You still need to switch the new phone on and off every once in a while until your service comes on.

On my moms phone it took less than 30 mins for the sim to be ready to use after the process started.

But definitely switching the phone off/on will help.

Hope you will fully enjoy your new phone after the process will be done.

I love my 5s slight_smile
