I need some help

i want to transfer my mobile number to a new provider but because I’ve got an Apple Watch on my account they are saying I will have to pay the outstanding balance for the watch if I transfer my mobile number

I have not heard of this before - when I was with EE previously the watch I had with them was under a separate number on my account rather than linked. Originally the watch was given a number & then it’s been linked to the mobile.

but what they’re saying is that until I’ve hit the 24mth contract period on the watch, I have to stay with them! This holds me as a customer to ransom meaning I can’t go and look for the best deal anywhere else. Would be ok if my contract for my mobile ran out at the same time but it runs out in 2 weeks. Making me have to stay with them for 10 extra months. I have already ordered my new phone with my new provider & my phone has arrived but I can’t use it or do anything with it until this has been sorted

whole thing is unacceptable & I’ve logged a complaint but just want some help/advice

You need to pay off your Apple Watch in full before you can port your Mobile number to EE, as they are linked (same would happen on EE if coming the other way round).

There is no way round this I am afraid. And you agreed to these terms when you added the Apple Watch to your contract.

Claus 8 of the T&C's you accepted when purchasing.

If you or O2 cancel the Paired iPhone Airtime Plan then your Watch Airtime Plan will be disconnected and, if applicable, you will also need to repay any Device Plans for your Apple Watch and Paired iPhone in full. You will receive debt collection letters for all relevant unpaid elements.

No point in making a complaint as it's just a waste of time.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
