Texting & Calling a number within that country

Anonymous

Hi all,

Brand new to O2 and the Community, please to meet you.

I have found lots of advice from this forum but unable to find an answer to my query.

I will shortly be going away to UAE and Australia, I would like to call and text friends that live in those countries while I am there (meaning I'll be there at the same time).

Now, is O2 going to charge me an International text or Call rate while I am in the same country as the number (landline or mobile) I am calling / texting?

If so why?
If not, what are the charges, my contract minute's / texts?

Any advices would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi and yes. You will be charged the international rate for those calls as you will be roaming off the o2 network.

TuGo will allow you use your allowances just as you would in this country but only for calling and texting back to the UK.

@Anonymous The best thing for you to do is to make sure your phone is unlocked before you travel and then get local Pay & Go sims from the networks in the countries you are travelling to. It will cost you a lot less to call and text your friends in those countries.
