Hi @Crainy
It's due to you sending a group text. Classsed as multi media messaging ..See here
https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/Accidental-MMS-Sending-and-How-to-Avoid-it/ba-p/1014132
O2 recommend you send in batches of 5 (or under) to avoid costs....
Sorry about that. Welcome to the forum though

Oops.
Measure twice, cut once, @Crainy.
Sorry to hear you got caught out like that, it happens more often than you'd think.
Funny though, my phone warns me when I am about to send a message that will cost 8p to a local radio station short-code number, but not if I have put two cracker emojis in an 50p SMS that has made the phone convert it to MMS.
Pretty sure O2 won't refund you, either - chalk it down to a learning experience.
Congrats on the new phone, btw 👍

O2 likely will not refund you & will refer you to other charges in your t&c

MMS will cost 55p but give customer service a call, you may get a sympathetic adviser. Don't ask don't get! Live chat won't refund but try 202.
Even O2 don't want you sending mms. Strain on a creaking network I would think.........
