Text Bolt On

Hi,

Does anyone know if O2 offer a text bolt on for Pay Monthly customers? I was told through the chat feature on here that I would need to alter my entire tariff to do it (which i could then change back at the end of the month), but I really don't need the extra minutes or data allowance, I just need more texts to last me until the end of the month.

My contract is coming to an end in less than 2 months, at which point it would work out better to just move over to the simplicity sim since that offers me exactly what I want for £11 per month, whereas on my current contract it's going to cost me £24 per month just to get more texts (it currently costs me just under £14 per month).

Thanks in advance.

It might be cheaper for you to pay off your remaining 2 months now and switch to your preferred simplicity contract immediately.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

You can manage your tariff and individual bolt ons in "My O2". Just log into your account and click on change my tariff at the top right of the page. Bolt ons may or may not be allowed on certain tariffs but anything available to you will be shown on there.

Thanks for the reply, that's what I figured. A bit annoying, since it only allows me to add an MMS bolt-on to my contract. It seems stupid that it's impossible to add some extra texts to my contract for just 1 month without having to change my entire tariff (which will increase the cost by £10.50 to £24), far more than what the simplicity deal costs for the same thing.

I'd understand O2 not wanting people to alter those subsidised 24 month phone contracts, but i'm actually adding to my cost, I just don't want to add so much to it that i'm paying for things I don't need (minutes/data).

Thanks again for your help though.

That makes sense and would be my option if I wanted the extra allowance now.
