Swapping over number from existing to new o2 phone that already has active sim

Hello folks

I have tried searching for a while but am lost!

I was paying for my son's airtime only on 02. He has bought a new 02 phone with new number on a new plan.

Is there a relatively simple way of transferring his old number that I am paying for on to his new phone with the different tariff. And is there a simple way to pay off the old plan?

Would really appreciate any advice and please, just say if you need additional info.

Did you upgrade or take out a new contract?

If the latter you need to call O2 and ask them to to cancel the airtime on his old contract and also migrate his old number to his new contract.

@DavidG19 To add to the advice given to you by @Cleoriff, as the old contract was in your name, in order to migrate the number to your son's new contract, you both have to be on the call to customer service together for security reasons.
