I’ve been trying to get my number changed over from my old contact for almost a week now. On Saturday I called o2 cancelled my old contract and ordered a new one, new sim arrived Monday. Tried to follow the swap instructions on the sim by texting 20220. Ended up calling customer services who said the swap would take 24 hours. Called again on Wednesday as it still wasn’t changed. Was told again it will be done on Wednesday and still no change. I’m currently stuck with 2 contracts as apparently the old one only cancels once the number has been transferred across. Awful service so far, feels like I’ll be calling again today to try and finally get it sorted.

You'll need to persevere with O2.

@Craig2710Did you take out a new contract, and now wanting to old one to cancel and migrate your number across (to the new one?).  Just put in your new sim, then phone O2 and just say you want your number moving across.    Your old SIM will no longer work, the old contract will cease virtually straight away.   For a period of typically 24hrs  working hours you will have to use your new number until the old one migrates across.    That is exactly what I did no need to text anything.   oh dont make the call on a friday as I did.

I tried that, they said it would take 24 hours and it’s now almost Friday and it still hasn’t tranferred across, looks like I’ll be on the phone again tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion

yes that does not sound right, I phoned on a Friday (big mistake) and it was Wed before it went through and I was up and running on the OLD number on the NEW contract.

Same again today, still nothing called into o2 shop as well and was told there is nothing they can do
