If an early termination fee is going to be charged on changing a contract is it shown as an upfront cost in the initial order or will it turn up on the next bill?

It's shown clearly during the checkout process but there are no termination fees if taking a new simo on a new 12, 18 or 24 month contract.

It's free to change as long as you are extending the term, so in your case, a new contract over 6 months duration is a free change.
