I have a 999 rating with Experian and a 526 rating with Equifax and have been refused a sim only monthly contract. I already have one monthly contract with O2 paid by standing order. Never missed a payment . Home owner , never had a credit problem or debt problem of any kind. What is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Credit ratings don't mean much, when you need credit each case is judged separately.
You could ring and try the Credit Referrals Team.

I know that O2 use Equifax for their credit vetting, and as you say you have quite a low score with them. Your credit rating should be equal among the companies so perhaps contacting Equifax to see what they have might point you in the right direction.
Your credit rating might not be "bad" but still not what O2 would accept. Try going "sim only" (not as strict a credit check), build up over say 6 months and then try.

It could simply be that you have made several applications for credit in a short space of time.
There can be many reasons why it failed and they don't have to tell you why, which is a pity.

Got this from O2
"Thanks for your e-mail about your recent application for a contract with O2. As well as our credit scoring system, we use business policies to assess all new applications. On this occasion you didn’t meet our criteria so we’re unable to accept your application.
As our business policies are commercially sensitive then I am unable to discuss the specific reason why we rejected your application".
I have since applied for a 12 month sim only contract with Vodaphone which was accepted without any problems. When my wifes contract ends in September I will be transferring her O2 accont to Vodaphone.
So that, as they say, is that.
I will be joining the Vodaphone forum in the near future.
