Really wish I hadn't renewed my contract.

I knew there would be hidden charges but £29! How can you charge £12.99 insurance. When all the other mobile insurance sites charge an average of £6.99 top line. Also what is this £14.99 ? Oh plus VAT. I really thought I was getting a good deal. After being a contract customer for almost 10 years. I'm now saving to buy my way out of the contract. Very disgruntled customer.

Best bet is to call them on 202. possibly some adjustments on the change over? There are no hidden charges, you just need clarification from customer service.

HI,

Wouldn't you be aware of the charges being a contract customer for 10 years.

You could look at any Home Contents Insurance T&C to see if one covers your mobile phone for loss and accidental damage ,if not ask how much it would be to add it, and then you could cancel your O2 insurance.

Some Bank Accounts provide this cover too. Check T&C.

There are plenty of standalone mobile phone insurance companies as you say but read their T&C thoroughly. On most if you pay monthly then to make a claim you have to pay an excess ,and pay the remaining years premiums up before a claim is honoured.

You could just cancel your o2 insurance but the dangers are that a typical smartphone is in the hundreds of pounds if the worst happens.

O2 insurance is optional. No one is forcing you to take it. Just cancel it and take insurance elsewhere.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Goes up in increments depending on handset and level of insurance

The benefit of o2 insurance is that if there is an issue you are dealing with your network who will aim to resolve issues quickly.

If price is an issue you are free to cancel and purchase insurance elsewhere from companies like protect your bubble etc. However please as stated above please be sure to check the cover meets your requirements.

I personally choose not to insure but I do so knowing that if the phone was lost or stolen it would cost me £300 to replace for a good second hand refurbished model. I guess I have been lucky so far and not lost one but I do drop it from time to time.

Let us know how you get on please

It was your choice to have the insurance, it's not compulsory and you can cancel any time.
