Porting a number from o2 to o2

I have just bought a new phone and o2 contract from Mobile Phones Direct - what the best way to arrange for my old (current) o2 number to be transferred and this contract closed.  Do I need to seek a pac code the same as I woukd if I was transferring between service providers.

Surprised you did not simply buy the phone as an upgrade from MPD, @Gilesmart  - they do it all for you, including moving the number to the new SIM.

But the process for moving will involve a call to 202, now the O2 Shops are closed - you will need to be patient.

You need to call customer service and ask them to migrate your number from old contract to new one. This will also end your old contract automatically.
