Phone unlocking is so you can use any network sim card in the phone.

An unlocked phone is easier to sell and worth more money. Ideal when going overseas to use a local sim card.

Info and how to do it here

I always do it if I get a locked phone.
Why be restricted when you don't have to be?
It won't have any adverse effect on the normal function of your phone at all either.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
