Taking existing number to new contract

Hi, i have a contract running with o2 which is due to expire in a few days. I have taken out a new contract via u switch with o2 which came with a new number. I want to retain my old number and port it across to the new contract. How do i do it?

anyone else getting constant calls from Indians. Saying they are from O2. That your contract is up for renewal. When in fact it isn’t. I seem to be getting at least 2 or 3 a day. Getting really annoying.
