Hi

I don’t have a good credit score so is it worth getting a cheaper phone on contract then save up and pay it off and then get a top of the range iPhone?  Is that allowed and how long can you wait before you upgrade the cheaper phone ?

@Obee

You are now credit checked and eligibility checked every time you upgrade, so it doesn't matter and paying off the device in full doesn't really make any difference...

But if you pay off the device plan in full then you can upgrade in full, your better option and to build your credit file is to pay off each month for the term of the contract, and then upgrade, as this shows you can keep up payments and are building a relationship with o2..

You can always look at some of the alternative providers on the o2 network such as Tesco or giffgaff who also do handsets as you may find you are more likely to be accepted..
