O2 Price Query

Hi,

Have O2 increased their prices for call charges since last August?  I have been on an O2 Simplicity 10 pay monthly tariff and usually manage to stay within my monthly allowance.  However, last month for various reasons I exceeded my allowance by roughly 3 hours and ended up with a bill for £75.  I have never had to pay anything like this before, and although I was expecting to pay a higher amount, I was thinking maybe half this at most.  Looking back though my previous bills, the call charges from August 2013 (the last time I went over my limit) appear to be roughly half of what I have been charged this time for a similar time of day.

The reason I am asking is that my mum has a pay as you go SIM, and at the weekend she mentioned that her phone seems to be 'eating money' in the last few weeks.  Either O2 must have significantly increased their prices or there is a problem somewhere.

Can anyone help? Many thanks

Caroline

Hi

There is this http://www.o2.co.uk/desktop/prices

Check your bill if on contract for extra charges like mms etc etc

Edit : Payg price rises here http://www.o2.co.uk/pricechange

If you think they are wrong ring O2 on 202.

There have been recent increases in prices for out of allowance calls both on pay and go and contract.

Hi bandofbrothers,

Many thanks for your reply.  The PAYG link may well explain what has happened to my mum - she was one one of the tariffs that declined to 2p/min or 5p/min after a certain number of minutes.  A change to 25p/min constant rate will make an enormous difference to her!  Shouldn't she have been warned in advance?

I cant get to any call charges on the other link.  It confirms the monthly increase by the %RPI (which I was aware of) but when I try to click on the 'Effective from 28th February, we also made changes to some of our other charges' link, it keeps taking me to the FAQ section, not to details of the price changes?

Others on the Talkalot tariff have been hit with the 25p flat rate. Whilst it was published on the website it seems no one was informed personally.

A text message wouldnt have helped someone who doesn't know how to read/send text messages!

Regarding my Pay Monthly charges, I have managed to find something that indicates prices were increased from 35p/min to 40p/min for out of allowance charges, but that still doesn't make sense.  I was charged 87p for a 5min call in Aug 2013, which work out to 20p/min incl VAT.  My recent bill confirms they are now charging 40p/min, but that would mean the charges have doubled?  Again, I have had no warning of any price changes apart from the monthly subscription increase (where I received an e-mail).

Hi

I appreciate what your saying.

As I suggested earlier I would suggest ringing Cs on 202.

As we are all customers here like you with no access to accounts.

Well i was one that was caught out by O2 increasing call charges on the Talkalot

tariff from 25p first 3 minutes then 5p for rest of the day, when i came back home

from i month on holiday i rang my brothers landline for 50 mins for a whopping £13.50

off my balance as calls are now 25p flat rate.

All i would say to O2 is it would have been nice to have received some notice of these

changes to my tariff new call charges i received nothing no text or emails.

I feel this is very poor and unsatisfactory from a large company like O2 they should know

better.
