Hi all,
If anyone could offer any insight to my issue below I would be most grateful.
I have been with 02 since 2012, saw out the initial 2 year contract and continued sim only. O2 recently called me to ask if I wanted to upgrade - I didn't want a full upgrade, but accepted an offer to change my sim only package (same mins and texts, just a small increase in data allowance - no other changes).
This seemingly went fine, but I went to check my visual voicemail inbox a few days later and all of my voicemails had dissapeared.
I called 02 and they told me that the customer service agent that 'upgraded' me mistakenly set my settings to 'smartphone' rather than 'iPhone' - it is an Iphone 4s, so should always be set as iPhone.
Has anyone experienced similar?
The voicemails that have been deleted were left to me from my now deceased parents - I used the 4s only to keep their messages and I really, really need them back. But O2 have told me that absolutely nothing can be done and my voicemails are gone froever. Surely they can't have been actually deleted permanently?
The contract involves me paying them to maintain my voicemails - they haven't done this, so I am inclined to assume that they are in some way in breach of contract. Would anybody agree or disagree with this assumption?
Thank you to all who can help here - I will value absolutely any insight to this.

It's better to try on the old phone and if it works use the same backup on the new phone.
