I have dual bill I pay for my pay monthy and a Simplicity monthly bill for my daughter. Recently she has started work. So I pay a visit to the O2 shop (Corby) suitably armed with banking details and also the latest bill. When I entered the store I was passed to a customer service representitive. I tried desperately to stop him selling me a new phone and concentrate on what I wanted. After about 15 minutes of sales pitch I had got nowhere. He eventually capitualted and advised I would have to ring customer services. I have tried constantly and have been unable to get through. I have four handsets with O2 and I am nearing contract renewal. I believe that unless O2 pull their finger out they will be losing out on four renewals.
I cannot believe that O2 cannot deal with simple requests in the shop?
One very, very frustrated EX Customer.

How difficult is it really, 2 minutes to set up a direct debit. Then a transfer of ownership from one name to another why is it so difficult? We do it with cars why not phones?
You have been advised you can its just bad timing that you want to do this on the launch of the iPhone's when the callcentres will be ultra busy.
If you cannot or will not wait until the amount of calls abate then by all means obtain your PAC Code's, again by calling o2, and move network.
Just ensure your new choice of network supplies strong signal.

Just remind me my contract is due for renewal in 7 days time. GHow much notice do I need to provide to cancel my contract? I am not interested in a PAC to transfer, as I will get a new SIM and contract from a 3rd party.

In 7 days time your contract will become a one month rolling contract. You need to give 30 days notice that you want to cancel. You would need a PAC if you wanted to keep your number.
Why are you having such a hissy fit about not getting through when you've already been told that this is because of the heavy volume of calls concerning the new iPhones? Common sense would tell anyone that it's not an opportune time to call until this all settles down.

Exactly! thats the reason I have had a fit. I went to the shop to avoid the apple fanboys getting in a mess over the new iPhone. I wanted to transfer the simplicity to my daughter. The shop were truly useless. After I finally got through my daughter now has to get her own SIM. Brilliant. I have wasted half a day messing about I should have just cancelled the contract in the shop.... Oh wait a minute you have to call 202.

With the current customer service status and being weekend, I find it understandable that it's difficult to get through. It would be beneficial to your health and patience to call at a less busy time such as early weekday mornings to resolve your issue, whether you leave or change details.

I think we've determined I'm off, I just needed information as to how much notice I needed to give. So WHEN I eventually get through, I will be cancelling in favour of another operator who does have enough staff when there is a promotion on.

Check your new Network gives you decent coverage where you work, live and commute.
Test them out by using payg sims.
Also its worth noting that as a contract customer you can get your phones unlocked free.
So you can use them either as a back up or to sell on.
Unlocked phones attract a better price.

You need to give 30 days notice to o2.
If you want to retain your number then a PAC Code request is required.
If you are not bothered about keeping your mobile number at all then its not required.
Take care.

Just to say, all networks are launching the iphone and I would be surprised if the customer service situation is different with any of them.
