O2 Customer Services Constantly busy since 10:00 this morning

I have dual bill I pay for my pay monthy and a Simplicity monthly bill for my daughter. Recently she has started work. So I pay a visit to the O2 shop (Corby) suitably armed with banking details and also the latest bill. When I entered the store I was passed to a customer service representitive. I tried desperately to stop him selling me a new phone and concentrate on what I wanted. After about 15 minutes of sales pitch I had got nowhere. He eventually capitualted and advised I would have to ring customer services. I have tried constantly and have been unable to get through. I have four handsets with O2 and I am nearing contract renewal. I believe that unless O2 pull their finger out they will be losing out on four renewals.

I cannot believe that O2 cannot deal with simple requests in the shop?

One very, very frustrated EX Customer.

Can I just clarify what it is you were trying to do.... My understanding is that you have 2 pay monthly O2 contracts one for you, and one for you daughter, and you are trying to transfer the ownership of your daughter's sim only account so that it is in her name instead of your name?

Thanks

I have a Simplicity 300 which my daughter uses, I have a O2 200 with bolt ons. I pay the bill for both. I want to transfer the simplicity to my daughter and get her paying her own bill.

You do need to ring o2 to do this and both of you have to be present to carry this out I believe.

They are unable to do this in a High-Street store.

The Customer Service Callcentre {202} will be swamped with people wanting the new iPhones so be patient.

As I said at the beginning, I cannot get through I have now made over 15 calls and not been connected as yet. Now either the release of the iPhone (My little pony version)has generated massive amounts of customers wanting to upgrade or there is a lack of staff.

Ok there are 2 options depending on whether you are happy for your daughter's sim only account to remain in your name.

1) Keep the sim only account in your name, and change the direct debit details so that your daughter pays for the bills from her bank account

2) To put the account in a different name, this would involve cancelling your daughter's existing sim only account, and transferring the number to a brand new sim only contract which your daughter would need to take out in her own name, subject to her passing a credit check.

In any event, either of the 2 options above would have to be actioned by calling customer service (202 free from your mobile phone) as it involves speaking to both parties and amending your account (you and your daughter) and cannot be completed in the store.

Unfortunately it is not possible to just change the name on an existing account, by deleting it and replacing it with a new name, because any contract O2 has with a customer must begin by completing a credit check with the account holder and this can only be done by taking out a brand new connection, and if option 2 is better for you, then the number your daughter currently has in your name can be transferred across to the new account that she would take in her own name.

I think unless there is a better solution we'll be off. I cannot believe in this day and age, we cannot transfer ownership. How difficult is it really, 2 minutes to set up a direct debit. Then a transfer of ownership from one name to another why is it so difficult? We do it with cars why not phones?
