No 3G cover

Wow! Really disappointed, bought a Nokia Lumia 520 as a first step up from a very basic Nokia for my OH. Been with 02 PAYG for years but guessed a monthly contract would be more cost effective.
Now, with phone in hand there is no 3G coverage in the area. At home fine on wifi but already have an iPhone, iPad and PC. This was for away from wifi, now he has another phone that is for text and calls only!
Everyone seems to want 4G but when can I expect 3G here in Insch?

There is a problem with the mast in your area so they will be working on it:

Sorry we're currently investigating reports that a phone mast in this area isn't working.

Updated 17:00 (refreshed hourly). Recent faults might not show yet.

Unfortunately, we wouldn't know the answer to that here and I don't believe there is any announcements that O2 make either. Did you not check before buying an O2 phone....?

I have same problem in Sheffield, 3G very rarely, if ever, works.

 

And as discussed at length on here, I can't get my Wi Fi working because I don't have the tech skills, my Brother's coming up from London weekend before Xmas, he says he'll set it up for me.

Have you checked the service checker to ensure the masts are ok. 

 

Remove your SIM card and clean it. 

 

Possibly replacing it at an o2 store may help. 

 

Sometimes switching to 2g by turning off 3g in your phones settings can help.

To be honest it didn't occur to me! I am on 3 and if I lost 3G the O2 phone always had a strong signal! I just thought that most places at 3G capability unless away in the midst of nowhere!!
That will teach me Lol!!

Seek and the answer shall present itself!

Lol.

Just keep checking yourself until it shows all fine.

Then turn your phone off and back on to reset the connection.

The status checker shows that there is no 3G coverage in Insch, so even when the mast is repaired the best the OP will get is 2G.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Hey ho! wait and see what happens in the future, either that or move to another area! That's that's a little excessive. I did check the status at 16:00 and at that time did not report a problem!
