NHS Discount after buying from Carphone Warehouse???

So I've found a good deal through Carphone Warehouse but it's not quite as low as I wanted to pay. I have an NHS discount available to use and I know that I can use it through O2. The lady on the phone at Carphone made it sound as if I could take out the contract through them and then phone O2 and still get my discount - does anyone know if this is correct?

Unfortunately, your contract needs to be taken through o2 directly.
