My phone number is being used by a scammer

Hi, 

I keep getting phone calls off random numbers from people I don't know saying they have just had a missed call from me and end up calling me back. 

I believe there is a scammer who is using my number or changing the caller ID to my number, not sure what but I keep recieving these calls from random people asking why I called them and you can literally see in my call logs I have not called them or pocket dialed them or anything. 

I adamantly do not want to change my phone number, I've had my number since I was 11 years old. 

Please can you help stop this happening,

Join the club. Mine every few months and it's a Vodafone  number ported to EE. It's not unique to O2

Number spoofing scams are not uncommon.

Fraudsters spoof numbers to increase the chances of people they are calling answering the call as many won't answer unknown numbers etc.

OFCOM have some info about it but in reality, there's nothing you can do and the fraudsters will change to a different number in a day or so.
