I downgraded my contract 6 months ago from an old samsung galaxy S2 contract I had. I couldn't get on with the galaxy due to having an iphone 3gs before it and preferred the iOS to Android OS, so I decided to buy an iphone 4s from the apple shop and got a new sim from O2. My contract then ran out 6 months ago so I decided to keep my iPhone and downgrade my contract to pay considerably less than the £36 I was paying. I opted for the £14 p/m contract giving me minimal minis, enough texts and a small amount of data. I quickly realised that I was using up my data too quick so changed my contract up a notch to the O2 300 tariff. I was told that I was going to get 500mb of data plus the 250mb bolt on I was originally getting from my old tariff , which I got the woman to confirm 3 times on the phone! I found out a short while after that I was in fact not getting the 250mb bolt on, as that was not actually a bolt on but the contracted data assigned to the contract, so they couldn't carry it over to the new contract. I'm now stuck for the best part of 2 years on a contract that isn't good enough for me and I'm not happy at all! I cannot upgrade from my £17p/m contract unless I pay £29p/m for an extra 500mb of data + texts and mins I don't need! The only other options I have are to pay off my contract and go for the refresh contract @ £216(my contract, inc 25% off) + phone cost + £20p/m more than I'm paying. Or to sit out the rest of the contract for 2 years, stuck to my current phone because I now cant afford to outright buy another phone!
I realise I can buy bolt-on's but when I'm out of the house and happen to run out of data, It's so slow to log into the o2 app that I can't actually log in or access the bolt on options!
Thanks O2, been a customer with you for probably over 10years and now you've well and truly got me over a barrel!

Difficult to know what to say, you seem to have taken out a new contract without understanding what was involved.
If you had come to the forum first we could have explained it to you.
I'm not sure what O2 could do to help either.

Yea, I seem to have dug myself a hole that I'm quite stuck in. I've actually only just stumbled on this forum hence the post, just wondered if anyone had any suggestions or if I will have to just bite the bullet and stick it out!
Quite suprised that the sim-only contracts are so limited! I assumed there would be more options available, I only want extra data really! My mins and text allowances are fine as they are! 😞

More disappointed with the lack of options available to people who don't want to pay masses of money each month for voice calls and texts they aren't going to use but would like to be able to get mainly data for use on the Internet. There seems to be quite a hole in the options plans for these people (me included). I did ask for a sim-only contract initially but was told that I couldn't do this (cant remember the reason). I was going to move to giffgaff for a sim only £15 p/m deal that gave me 1gb of data, unlimited texts and a lot of mins, but thought I'd stay with O2 due to the offer of £150 credit towards my contract. That was great and has just this month run out, but now I'm stuck with the lack of data! May move to refresh next year seeing as I like the thought of the new 5s, Christmas is an expensive time of year to be moaning about phone contracts though haha!
On a different note, the refresh seems like a very good deal, apart from the fact that if you go for the 16gb 5s you actually pay £120 more for the phone than if you would at the apple store! No wonder O2 are pushing their refresh tariffs!!!

I must of read that wrong, they give the phone cash price as £669.99 but you pay £599.99! Where does the other £70 disappear too then?
