Moving abroad - still have 9 months left on Pay Monthly contract! :(

Hello All

My contract renewal date is 02.10.13 so I have approximately 9 months left on my contract but I am moving to Dubai in early January this year.

I have a Blackberry phone and to cancel the contract would be a massive amount of dosh so I have ruled that out.

I want to keep my Blackberry so my plan is to get the phone unlocked, get a Dubai sim chip when I arrive in the UAE, and let o2 continue billing my UK bank account until my contract renewal date (it's about £25 per month which I am fine with).

I am posting this here because I don't really know much about phones and wanted to know if my above 'plan' has any major problems at all that you can spot? Will O2 hit me with a penalty of some kind for not using my UK number abroad for 9 months?

Cheers for your help guys

Apart from ensuring your phone is unlocked the plan is fine...

Also bear in mind your contract doesn't stop at the end of the minimum period, it continues until you give 30 days notice.

You can give notice 30 days prior to that date.
