I ordered a payg sim to leave o2 pay monthly due to cost. I received a call from o2 (sales) offering a £5 deal with 1gb data and unlimited calls and text which was matched to my requirements. After agreeing the deal I was told I would be sent a new sim and to call 202 to transfer my existing number on o2. Customer services said this is not the correct process and that I could not transfer my number to the new sim and package was not available on my old account. I had to cancel the new sim in the 14 day cool off period no problem but angry and annoyed with o2. Maybe I should port number to another provider and then port it back at a cost and inconvenience. How do I raise a complaint to prevent this happening to others?

You can raise a complaint but it will still happen to others. That's how O2 rolls these days.

Complaints take around 8 weeks, whatever they say

https://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Due to the annoyingly incompetent call centre staff who don't even understand English most of the time IMO.
