Can someone explain what a media message is and why I hae been charged.  Im not too sure

Media messages are messages that contain some form of media - picture normally but could be video.
They also appear if (when) you send a text but use a number of emojis (smiley faces).
You would be charged as they are not part of any allowance.

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

its usually a picture message - also known as a Multimedia message or MMS

Or a long text which exceeds the 460 character count for SMS.

If you go over that by sending a long text...it will convert to MMS. All explained in the guide above.
