I am an O2 customer already and currently have a Samsung Wave II which I've had for a few years now. My brother gave me his old iphone 4 (also on O2) in the hopes that I could transfer my number over. However, the information on the site seems quite vague about how someone can do this. Most of the information is for new customers or customers looking to change from monthly to pay as you go, or vice versa.
So my question is, can I transfer my current number on the O2 sim for the Samsung over to the iphone 4?

You will need a new sim (free from o2 shop is easiest) and then do a sim swap which again the shop can do for you.
Sim swaps can take up to 24 hours to complete although in my experience it only takes a few minutes.

Yes it's simply done. Pop into your O2 store and pick up the right sized sim. They wwill change the number and tariff for you all free of charge. Usually takes from minutes to an hour.
You will have to call customer service to change the data to the specific idata bolt on.

I'm afraid bthis is just a customer to customer forum so you need to call customer service, don't use live chat.
You should also delete your number as this is a public forum.

This is a customer forum so you will need to call cs on 202 to sort your problem out.
You should also edit your number as this is public.
