For the past 4 days we have had no signal in our area. i have written a complaint but was notified that this would take 48 hours for someone to get back to me. On the home page Live Chat is not available as there is a message indicating this. Has anyone a direct email address for someone in Customer Care as I find this level of service appalling

Additionally, it is very rare that O2 will give out exact timescales for fixing network issues. There is no email address for complaints ...you need to follow the process in this link http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain
Check out the resolver website. People seem to get good results from this http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

4 days is not a long time depending on where the mast is located it is not as simple as turn up and fix many permissions may have to be sourced http://www.kentonline.co.uk/maidstone/news/maidstone-mobile-phone-mast-21976/ as one example I quote "Residents claimed the owner of the field where the company's mast – and another owned by O2 – are had refused to grant engineers access to fix the problem"

In my neck of the woods (Barnstaple) O2 signal has been out for about 2 weeks - apparently they are working with OFCOM to resolve the issue.
I'm sooooooo glad i'm not on O2 anymore as 2 weeks is a long time with no service

@Anonymous do you have a source of info that ofcom are working to resolve this, as they do not normally get involved unless illegal devices are interfering with the signal
