how does the Huawei 5g ban effect people who have bought Huawei phone from O2 on recommendation from store as a great phone for 5g as my wife bought one and is worried she will be left with no internet

The Huawei 5G ban is only on infrastructure (masts and associated kit) and doesnt impact on handsets.

The legislation is just for base station equipment and doesn't come into force until 2027 so it's unlikely that any phone bought today would still be working by then anyway.
