How to transfer a number between two o2 contracts?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am not sure if this specific question has been asked before (if it has, I can't find it):

I want to purchase a new o2 contract from mobiles.co.uk (a new o2 contract is cheaper than any upgrade option from o2 or mobiles.co.uk), and I still have my existing o2 sim only deal (that I am now paying monthly by choice, as the contract is complete).

My question is, how would I go about getting my current number onto the new contract. I would obviously call and cancel the old, complete contract. Would I then just ask them to transfer my number to my new o2 contract from mobiles.co.uk? Would I have a brand new myo2 account as well? Any help would be appreciated

I'm still on the line, asking to be escalated.

The agent says that the OP was able to because that was a different account....

Mine would be an 'internal transfer' that they are unable to do.

After 2 hours 14 mins I've given up. Transferring to a PAYG looks like an option though

@collierp77

There are known issues with numbers on legacy accounts now they have been moved to 360.

The only way is to port out and back in again using a different network PAYG sim.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

OOh that sounds fun. I've called back and am currently speaking to a lovely Scottish accented lady, hopefully, they can tell me something different than the previous 2 hour call.

On hold to the customer care team now, no indication that this is not possible.

Good news.

The UK service agents are known to be much more clued up than the offshore ones.

I feel like I was lied to so that I would be coerced into taking a 24-month contract.
