How to change my number without it getting sold to scammers?

Above.

I've had a ton of problems for months with my current number being targeted by scammers, almost every call I get nowadays is scammers trying to get me to sign up to stuff I neither need or want.

Therefore I want to change my number and only give it to people who NEED to know such as family and support staff.

However, I'm concerned that if I do change, it'll automatically be leaked and the problems will all start again.

Would there be a way to combat this?

O2 don't pass on numbers to scammers. They have many legitimate ways to do that.

These days there are no guarantees with any number

Guide: How to change your mobile number

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

@Enlli I rang 202 yesterday, because I don't know my account password without looking, I couldn't get past the automated security to talk to an actual human, although to resolve that, I changed the password and wrote it down.

Also, I've PMd @Dave-O2 to see if it's possible to change my number, no response yet.

@XboxBloke1976

Waste of time changing numbers tbh. There are no "new" numbers and all are recycled, so any different number could be out there on lists anyway.

Also, scammers just use auto diallers in which they enter a number range and the computer continually dials numbers constantly.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

I have said it before and will say it again, it would take me 10 minutes max to download the publicly available file from OfCom with all the UK Mobile Number ranges,  add to Excel, create 10K lines, download Auto Dialer, get a PAYG sim with a number, and dial... rinse and repeat... rinse and repeat..  if active add to another sheet, and spam away...

So your number is safe until someone else finds it...

This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company
