How to change my number without it getting sold to scammers?

Anonymous

Above.

I've had a ton of problems for months with my current number being targeted by scammers, almost every call I get nowadays is scammers trying to get me to sign up to stuff I neither need or want.

Therefore I want to change my number and only give it to people who NEED to know such as family and support staff.

However, I'm concerned that if I do change, it'll automatically be leaked and the problems will all start again.

Would there be a way to combat this?

Also, I've PMd @Dave-O2 to see if it's possible to change my number, no response yet.

Forgive me if I'm being a little thick but surely you have just changed your number again in order to rejoin the community?

@jonsie Nope, just logged in using my existing phone account and changed the username, but of course, the Mods and everyone else know it's me so it makes no odds.
