Fast track to refresh. Contract length

Hi All.

I went into the o2 store this morning and paid the fast track fee to upgrade to a nice shiny Samsung Galaxy S4 on the new 4G tariff.

I was under the impression that the fast track fee paid off the existing contract so you could upgrade immediately but it appears that isn't the case.

Upon checking my account on the o2.co.uk web site I see that the contract renewal date that I originally had has been extended by a further 2 years (24 months).

I had expected the contract renewal date to be 29th August 2015 but it shows it as being 28th February 2016!

If I had known that I was going to end up with an additional few months on my contract then I might not have upgraded today and waited til December when I had the early upgrade option on my old tariff!

Can anyone clarify if this is correct or not?

it may take a few days to reflect the changes but call 202 to ensure it is correct
