Ending my O2 contract after full term

My 24 month contract ends in 30 days time.  I have yet to decide whether or not I'll leave O2 when the contract ends but, I'd like not to incur any further charges if I DO leave the day it does end.

 

Am I right in thinking that I STILL need to give formal 30 days notice (as soon a possilbe now since I'm within 30 days of contract end) to avoid being billed further?

Yes, give notice now and get your PAC which is valid for 30 days.
If you do decide to leave just use your PAC at the end of your contract period.

You will need to give 30 days notice should you wish to leave O2.

 

My advice would be to contact customer services and go onto a 30 day sim only tariff. This is usually A LOT cheaper so if you did decide to leave O2, your 30 days notice will be cheaper

Thanks for that.

So, just be clear, if I dealyed giving notice by say a further 10 days from now, I'd owe them 10 days worth of Airtime plan.  i.e. about a third of a month x £20 ?   (My Handset will have been paid for by then of course)

Yes, it’s always 30 days from when you give notice.
They will bill you upto the end of your next billing period so you will need to claim back any final bill refund.

Thanks.   It rather seems a bit of a legitimite scam on their part despite whatever small-print people have signed up to. In my view, they should have to approach the customer to see if they want to roll on the Airtime contract or not.  Hey Ho.

Anyway, all this (likely decision to leave O2 by me) was prompted by O2's lack of any loyalty back to me after 15 years with them.  Never offer any renewal discounts for a new phone contract etc  (at least not to me anyway!) .

Offers seem to be dependent on who you talk to at o2.
Might be worth calling back and trying again?

Why, they could go the other way and cut you off on the day that your contract ends, unless you contact them to renew?

I know which option i would prefer, and to be fair it is quite clear in the T&C's. And you can give notice on 30 days before it ends.

Yes it's all very simple and I agee but I think it's the lack lack of a decent deal that the OP is more concerned about. The T&Cs are quite clear if people take the time to read them.
