Data usage excessive

Anonymous
Not applicable
For months now I have been using my data excessively quickly sometimes within the first week! This seemed really odd and I even took my phone into iPhone store to see if I could change any settings but the guy agreed that I'd done all I could. Then last night I heard on a radio programme that this is happening to a lot of people recently and so I'm getting a bit suspicious - what is going on here? Is this a way to get me to buy bolt ons?! Also my contract is due for renewal and I am seriously considering changing to another network because of this. Can anyone look into this for me?

@Anonymous you will need to contact O2 directly http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

We are just customers here so cannot assist with your request.

It does happen though and if you search the forum you will see a number of excessive data usage threads for the iPhone.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I started a thread too some time ago about the same thing.
In the end, that account moved to EE and problem was solved.

this could be because of "WIFI assist" if you go into settings, mobile data and scroll right to the bottom their will be a toggle for wifi assist, turn this off!!!! when using apps and being connected to wifi your handset will still use mobile data, also check to makesure that all updates will be done when coneccted to wifi only, this will also save on data usage, iu was using nearly 3gb a week because of this on my iphone, iphones are forever running updates in the background so forever using data... but because your phone is connected to wifi it will still also use mobile data at the same time!.... hope this helps

Hello @Anonymous, how are you doing? Did you manage to find out what was eating your data, e.g. could it have been the Wi-fi assist mentioned above?
