Cost of text and data in Spain

If I send a text in Spain how much will it cost? And as I have I iphone can I set it up not to get roaming charges but sill send send text messages over iMessage or what's app?

Their is a setting in the iPhone to turn off roaming.

Also turn off voicemail before you go.

Use wifi when and where you can.

Using what's app or iMessage will be free over wifi

Turn off 3G and mobile data when you don't need it.


One tip is to get a local sim when you arrive and use that in your phone.

Yes you can still send messages over imessage and whatsapp with roaming and mobile data switched off, free using wifi only.

If you are on Pay Monthly and don't have it installed yet, install the TuGo app, which will enable you to use your talk and text allowance over WiFi to call or text UK numbers.

You do not need to turn 3g off only cellular/mobile data

3g on will allow greater use of the voice network. (3g is not data only like 4g)
