Carrying over my old phone number

i recently set up a contract for a samsung galaxy 5s from my old iphone, and it was said my phone number would transfer over, can anyone tell me when this should happen? also if the network status is like a signal bar with a large "N" over it is an issue i need to adress.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and as you had an iPhone previously, you might need to call CS on 202 and ask them to switch your data tariff to standard data.
Check if it works first after the sim swap.

The N is because you have NFC turned on. Turn it off in settings.
To transfer your number you need to do a sim swap
