Call divert

Not applicable

Please can someone tell me whether it is possible to set up my phone (phone 1) to divert to another number (phone 2) if I don't answer it within 10 seconds BUT also have the call revert back to my voicemail on phone 1 in the event phone 2 is switched off or out of service area?

Thanks very much

CLI is Call line identification (ie, when the number flashes up on your screen) and ANI is automatic number identification, but I'm not sure if O2 use ANI.
What you need to ask them, which is the bit I don't think they will do, is spoof your main number to the PAYG sim for call ID only

I've just checked the O2 website for sim only options and unless I'm mis-understanding, it looks like PAYG sims have a monthly charge? Surely this defeats the object of a PAYG phone.

Do you know if there is an option to buy a sim, which does not have a monthly charge?

Thanks for the explanation on CLI. I will ask O2 but I'm not holding out too much hope for them to help me out with this!

There is an O2 Basic PAYG tariff which you have to request from CS but they don't do a "traditional" PAYG tariff other than that anymore.

The pay as you go website is misleading.

There is no obligation to pay for a monthly bundle, (I actually asked this very question a couple of days ago).

On a landline, you normally can pay a fee and have the caller ID changed to any number that you own, (e.g. a personal number, freephone number, or alternative landline).

But I don't think that there is any obligation for the companies to provide this service.

Worth noting too that ANI, (which is normally an internal thing used by the network), ALWAYS relates to the 'real' number of the line, and is used for billing, emergency call routing, etc.

But there is no monthly charge, is there????  You can just top up with ten quid and leave it there, can't you?  (Subject to making a call every, what, 180 days?)

Yes sure but you don't get any allowances and when you do top up it all goes to pay for allowances that last a month only.

Oh great, so unless you top up every month you can't just keep an O2 PAYG sim as a secondary backup phone???

Not unless they deem you worthy of their "basic" tariff wink
