Blocking a number from texting

Anonymous
Not applicable

I can easily block numbers from calling me using the blacklist option on my Galaxy S2, but does anyone know how I can block numbers from texting? For some reason this past few months I've started getting loads of spam texts and they're really starting to p*** me off. I presume that if I can't do it on my phone then there must at least be a way to do it at the network provider.

You should forward them to O2 on 7726 with the number they came from if possible.

There are sms blocking apps in the Play Store. I'm not sure how well they work, so it might be an idea to try the free versions before you forked out any money.

If you are on JB firmware (which you should be by now) there is a separate message blacklist within the message app settings.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I don't have the message blacklist option but I'll either upgrade my firmware to get it or I'll try one of the other options that you suggested.
